My First Bottle

Last night my daddy gave me a bottle for the first time. Let me just tell you... YUMMY! I wanted more than the 2 ounces that mommy had pumped for me! It was a great night... until my tummy started to hurt. I was still up at 12AM with gas pains in my little tummy. Mommy and Daddy tried the drops that help with infant gas. Guess what? It worked within minutes. My mommy and daddy are hoping that this will help next time I have this kind of tummy ache. I guess this is all part of being 3 weeks old! I'll keep you posted. Love, Savannah Kate

So Big!

Our little Savannah is growing "SO BIG". I took her to her 2nd pediatrician appointment yesterday (btw... we LOVE our Doctor). Remember Savannah had lost a little weight after her birth (totally normal) and was 6/13 at her 1st appointment. Well, I am happy to report that my baby is now 8/2! She does like her nursing (even though she ends up in a coma - see below) and is growing everyday. Dr. Medero gave her a clean bill of health and really helped mommy (me) on a few key issues (like schedules and gas). We are going to start giving Savannah 1 bottle a day in the next few days, which Sean will introduce. Evidently Savannah can only associate me with breastfeeding, so Dr. Medero suggested that this be a daddy duty. Sean is thrilled and so am I. If all goes well (meaning she takes to the bottle ok), then I can continue to sleep during the 11/12 pm feeding. We are still loving every minute of her - even the fussy times:)! She is truly the best thing that has ever happened to me and I'm sure her daddy feels the same!

A Bundle of Fun!

Savannah has had a wonderful 2nd week of life. She is getting into a groove with a feeding and sleeping schedule. Two night feedings (usually around 11:30/12:00 and then again between 3:00 and 5:00, but typically she has been waking up around 5:15). So, I consider this pretty good for a 2 week old. I usually set my alarm to let me know when 5 hours have passed during the night, but she is so good she typically waits until right before it is to go off and let's me know she is hungry. Well, for the hungry part... our sweet Savannah has a very hard time staying awake when nursing. We have tried everything to keep her awake. Sean will tickle, sing (that could wake the dead), and undress her all the way to the diaper...but nothing works! We have started waking her up thoroughly after a nap by putting her in Cousin Noah's bouncy seat by herself (only in her diaper) and bascially making her quite angry. That will wake her up for the first 15 min of feeding and then we have to try something else. I'm told she will grow out of this "milk coma" stage soon. I hope so b/c a nursing session that should take about 30 min. is lasting almost an hour with waking her up. Above is a pic of our little girl in a self induced milk coma.
Did I mention that Savannah is quite the drama queen? I have no idea where this comes from! She is so funny! She will throw her hands over her face as if to say "Really...you want me to sleep now!" Here is a pic of of her pure DRAMA!
Savannah is our little angel. We fall more and more in love everyday. She is definitely "daddy's little girl" already. It won't be long before she has him completely wrapped around her little finger!

Savannah is 2 Weeks Old!

Savannah turned 2 weeks old today. She had a funfilled day learning how to be "baby wise" as we tried to get her on a schedule and I'm happy to report that we are coming along:)! We strolled to starbucks this morning and hung out for a few minutes while I drank an ice coffee. Later in the day, Nana Parham came over and helped out for a few hours. Here are a few pics of Savannah enjoying her day. She didn't really drink the starbucks:)!

Visiting Day

Savannah had a day full of visiting with friends and family today. She mostly slept through all of the visits, but she did open her eyes a few times to take a peak:)! Mommy really enjoyed the visitors too. It was great to see everyone enjoying Savannah as much as we do! We visited with Katie & Sloane, Great Uncle Ronnie/Great Aunt Robin/Casey, and Great Uncle Royal & Great Aunt Danita. The funny thing is Uncle Royal remembers holding ME like he was holding Savannah!

SUPER DADDY

We have had some trouble getting Savannah to sleep in her cradle and we were having to hold her through the night... not really the best sleep you can get:)! Sean figured out that the cradle was just too big right now and she needed to feel secure and tight. He rolled up towels and swaddled her twice... it worked! We were able to sleep from 10:30-3:30 with two feedings. After the second feeding she was wide awake, so I kept her in the living room with me and Sean went back to sleep (he had to work this am). We were trying to avoid the pacifier until she was two weeks, but we decided that the "nursing Nazi's" would just have to get over it! She sucks on the pacifier (which makes the cutest noise) and soothes herself to sleep. I hope and pray this continues and she is eventually able to stay in the cradle for a little longer once she gets older.

So, Sean is super daddy! If only the crowd downtown and at the Longbranch could see him now! He rocks! Check out her picture in the cradle with the pacifier... too cute!

Savannah's 1st Outing

Today (Mon/11) was Savannah's very first pediatrician's visit. She got a clean bill of health and mommy and daddy got a few snapshots to remember the occasion. Check out her Mary Jane booties, thanks Grandma Sharpe... she was way too cute! After the doctor's office, we took Savannah to Target... I know you all find it hard to believe that my child went to Target!
The last pic is of Sean and Savannah napping in his chair. She loves to sleep with daddy and her boppy!

Homecoming!

We were discharged from Rex on Saturday, August 9. Savannah's Aunt Robin and Uncle Waylon + Cousin Noah stopped by to see us off. They got some great shots as we left the hospital. Once we arrived home Nana and Grandpa Parham were at the house to welcome us. They took some great shots as Savannah saw her new home for the first time. She also met Kaleb and we are sure they will be the best of friends.

During our hospital stay, Savannah lost 8.5 ounces (she was originally 7'3). When we left on Saturday she had already gained an ounce and weighed a whopping 6'11! The doctor did notice a small amount of jaundice (we really couldn't tell), but was not at all concerned since she was breadtfeeding and pooping/peeing:) well!

On Sunday, August 10 Savannah met a few of her neighbors on Currituck. She met Emily, Suzanne, Lars & Karen.

Thanks to so many family and friends who have brought by meals and welcoming presents. You are all very appreciated by the 3 of us!

A few new pictures

Starting a routine...

Hello to all! Just wanted to take a few minutes to catch up on how everything has been going. The hospital room has been quite a busy place for the last two days and Savannah is surely one loved baby. Thanks to everyone that has stopped by helped to wlecome her into the world. The first night Savannah had a hard time adjusting to her new world and was up all night long which, of course, meant her mommy and daddy were kept up all night as well. Andrea has started breast feeding and with the help of a lactation consultant and Savannah's aunt Robin everything is really starting to click on that front! Last night Savannah slept most of the night and this morning her mommy and daddy are feeling much better because they got some sleep last night too. Andrea is feeling much more confident about her ability to breast feed and her milk is already starting to come in! She also informed me (Sean) this morning that she is ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE with Savannah! I have to whole-heartedly agree with her! Andrea has started moving around a bit after the C-section and even managed to walk up to the nursery last night to watch Savannah get weighed. She is still very sore but handling it like a champ. I am so proud of her! We will touch base again. Thanks for stopping by and checking on Savannah's progress.

Love, Sean, Andrea and Savannah.

Savannah Arrives!

This morning at 10:36am our beautiful baby girl Savannah Kate Sharpe came into the world through a C-section birth. She weighed 7 lbs 3 oz and was 20 inches long. She had a full head of jet black hair and has beautiful blue eyes. Both mother and baby are in good health. We are posting a few pictures now but check back soon for more!
